Administrative building IBC, Chur

Starting situation and idea

IBC’s administrative building was hardly noticeable to customers. The reception area looked forbidding with its enclosed counter. IBC needed more office workplaces on the ground floor and the administrative building needed to be made accessible.

Approach

An inviting canopy leads to an open reception with waiting areas. The exterior steps were eliminated by building a ramp. A lift was installed inside the building to make all rooms barrier-free and accessible. Modern meeting rooms, offices and staff cloakrooms were added.

Challenges

The outdated building was given a facelift by adding a prominent forecourt, a tasteful entrance area with barrier-free access and converting the janitor’s apartment into representative meeting rooms and offices.
